![]() ![]() ![]() The United States government’s desire to stop the spread of communism abroad served as the main impetus for American involvement in Vietnam. ![]() King staged numerous non-violent marches and sit-in’s throughout the South in order to protest the conditions faced by African Americans in the United States.ĭuring the rise of the American Civil Rights movement, a different conflict was arising thousands of miles away in Vietnam where Northern forces were attempting to lead a communist revolution. King was effective in his efforts due in part to his rhetorical skills, but also due to his belief in non-violent protest. This time saw King lead African Americans in the North and South to stand up against the long-standing racism present within American society. was an American Civil Rights leader during the 50’s and 60’s. ![]()
